50 Cent responds to Melle Mel after he claimed that Eminem has “white privilege” in the rap game.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Melle Mel said the only reason Eminem is deemed a top 5 rapper is that he’s white. The Detroit native has yet to speak on the comment; however, 50 Cent hopped on Instagram and let the world know how he felt about Mel’s critique.

On Sunday (Mar. 5), 50 Cent dragged Melle Mel for his pessimistic comments regarding Billboard and Vibe ranking Eminem #5 on their latest Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All-Time list.

“There was more money selling dope than being in Hip-Hop when Melly Mel was popping, the culture has grown so much,” said 50 Cent in his now-deleted Instagram post. The “In Da Club” rapper added, “I am not sure if it would be what it is today with out artist like Eminem. Sh*t I am not sure I would be who I am with out him but you know it is competitive so ni**as gonna hate. LOL f*ck outta here ! We sucker free.”

The Art of Dialogue interview Melle Mel recently did is what led 50 Cent to jump on Instagram and defend Eminem.

50 Cent Responds to Melle Mel Saying Eminem Has White Privilege in Rap

“Obviously, he’s a capable rapper. If you talking about sales, he sold more than everybody. If you talking about rhyme styles, OK, he got rhyme style,” said Mel in the interview. “But he’s white. So, if Eminem was just another nia like all the rest of us, would he be top five on that list where a nia that can rhyme just as good as him is [No.] 35? That had records and all that. He’s 35.”

Mel furthered, “And anybody could be as mad… They could feel how they wanna feel. If you don’t think that race plays a part in the equation of how great he is — I heard one of the dudes that’s down with him, Royce Da 6’9″ [Royce Da 5’9″] or one of those – I heard he’s just as good as Eminem. Why he ain’t as big as Eminem? Because he’s Black. Ain’t none of that sh*t hard to figure out. Eminem gets a top spot because he’s white.”

In the interview, Mel also said considering what he’s done for the Hip-Hop genre, if he were white he’d be looked upon as a more significant artist than Elvis Presley.

Do you agree with 50 Cent or Melle Mel as far as Eminem being a top 5 rapper because he’s white? Tell us below!
