Cheryl James also known as ‘Salt’ from the group ‘Salt N Pepa’, shares her story from when the industry forced her to get an abortion.

In a recent sneak peek interview with Tamron Hall, the group ‘Salt N Pepa’ joined her in sharing the secrets of the industry and the pressure that led to Cheryl James getting an abortion.

Many remember the hits that Salt N Pepa have throughout the 80s and 90s such as Push It, Whatta Man, I’ll Take Your Man and many more.

Being such icons back then and even now placed pressure on them even in their 20s but also still wanting to be mothers.

“I was actually asked to get an abortion and I won’t say who but you have to ask yourself if you’re capable of going through that. If you want to have a kid and a career it’s definitely harder.” said Cheryl ‘Salt’.

This type of treatment isn’t just based on Cheryl James or other female celebrities but it causes real issues in the community.

Many women are asked or questioned if they’re capable of being able to have a career while also being a mother which makes for many people to become disgusted by the fact that it’s all on women and never the fathers.

The issue just doesn’t stop at the abortion law which was in motion in June of 2021 after Roe v Wade was overturned but it continues to go beyond the fact that women are assumed to not be able to have a career and be a mother.

It creates strain in the music industry when you are a woman and also know that you want to be a mother and have a family but the only thing that your label or managers care about are the sales.

The interview is set to premiere TODAY on the Tamron Hall network.

Make sure you check to see what time the show will air in your area!
