The next TV show centered on his character in Solo: A Star Wars Story will be written by actor Donald Glover (who played a young Lando Calrissian) and his brother Stephen.
Prior to the WGA strike, it was decided that the brothers would take over as the series’ pen men even though Justin Simien had been hired to write the pilot.
In a statement to entertainment reporters, Simien claimed, “I certainly poured my heart and spent a lot of time working with them to put together a really great show. It feels like everybody loves it. And, you know, I was told we had to put a pause on it because of scheduling, and the next update I got [was in 2020], some years ago. So I don’t know, I have no idea what’s going on with it.”
To THR, he recently made the following remarks, “I am attached, I think, but I don’t really know…. The last thing I was told was that they loved it but needed to put a pin in it until they could figure out everybody’s availability.”
Donald Glover Penning Star Wars TV Series
The fact that Glover will write for the show is a given, but his return to the program is not.
He did, however, previously make a confirmation appearance in March 2022 on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“Am I [working on the series]?” stated the ATL star, pondering the late night show host’s inquiry. “No, yeah, I have a lot of things [going on]. I have like a ton of stuff I’ve been working on.”
In April 2022, he reaffirmed the talks by stating, “We’re talking about it,” prior to comically expressing, “That’s as much as I can say without Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.”
