Great news Vince Staples fans! Netflix announced that it renewed “The Vince Staples Show” for a second season after it was originally meant to be a limited series. This means you don’t have to worry about your favorite new show disappearing into the shadow realm. Here is everything we know about season 2 of the series.
Firstly, “The Vince Staples Show” will continue to be executive produced by Staples, Kenya Barris (Black-ish), Corey Smyth, Ian Edelman, Maurice Williams, and William Stefan Smith. Secondly, recurring guest stars on the series are the legendary Vanessa Bell Calloway (Coming to America, This Is Us) and Andrea Ellsworth (BlackAF, Gentefied). Other guest stars in its first season included Miami rapper Rick Ross, Arturo Castro, NatĂ© Jones, Bryan Greenberg, Scott MacArthur, and Myles Bullock. However, it’s still unclear as to whether or not they will be making appearances in season two.
“The Vince Staples Show is back! The people have spoken and the most riveting, captivating, and polarizing show on Netflix is returning for season 2. Get ready for hijinks that only a mother can love. Thank you, Netflix!” Staples said. The five-episode Netflix show first debuted to good reviews on February 15, 2024. As Parle Magazine reported back in January, it’s based in Long Beach, California and is loosely based on Staples’ day-to-day life.
On top of acting, Vince Staples has been very busy making music as he recently released a new album, titled Dark Times, on May 24. He now has five albums under his belt after having a successful decade-long career in hip-hop. Dark Times is also his final album under Def Jam, which he signed to in 2013.
“Dark Times feels like a logical progression from his last few projects,” Pitchfork Magazine described the project in a review. “[It] has plenty of trauma, but the difference is it more directly intersects with his present life as a celebrity trying to stay out of the way.”
In addition to being a solo artist, Staples is part of hip hop trio Cutthroat Boyz alongside rappers Aston Matthews and Joey Fatts.
Keep posted for more updates on “The Vince Staples Show” season 2. We’re looking forward to it!
