2011 – Kandi and Todd Meet While Filming RHOA

It’s been a long time coming for Kandi and Todd’s relationship timeline! If you didn’t know, Kandi met her knight in shining armor while taping a cast trip to Africa in 2011. At the time, Todd served as a line producer on the show’s set.

“I was in Africa with #RHOA & the African medicine man was reading my cast mates & my future in this pic. He predicted that I would get married soon & he said my husband was with me at that moment,” Kandi captioned under a 2016 throwback of her and the fellow Housewives. “Of course I was thinking he didn’t know what the hell he was talking about. The crazy thing is that Todd was there! He was watching the scene with the rest of the crew. At that time I had saw him maybe once but had never spoke or had a conversation with him.”

According to the Xscape songstress, the photo was taken on August 3, 2011, and she conversed with Todd for the first time on his birthday, the following day. She said in conclusion, “Not sure how the African Medicine man was able to predict my future but he was right. [Todd] is my love for life!”

“I was trying to play it cool in Africa as it’s against the rules to cross the line with the talent,” Todd recalled in a 2014 interview with The Daily Dish“I loved her smile, she had a great butt! [laughs] She seemed very humble and genuine.”

2013 – Todd Pops the Big Question on Kandi

On January 15, 2013, US Weekly exclusively confirmed that Todd asked for Kandi’s hand in marriage on New Year’s Day. Reportedly, the special occasion took place during a celebration with friends.

“I used to make jokes with my friends that I [was] part of the ‘Forever Single Club,'” she joked with the outlet. “That’s what I said before, but now I’m totally different.”

Kandi’s ring was a two-carat rock by high-end jeweler Gregg Ruth.

2013/2014 – Mama Joyce vs. the Soon-to-Be Tuckers

Since the beginning of their relationship, it was known that Kandi’s mother, Mama Joyce, wasn’t the biggest fan of their union.

Around seasons five and six of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, we could all tell she was certainly #TeamNoNuptials.

From insinuating that Kandi’s friend, Carmon, had been creeping with Todd to coming at Kandi about Todd’s alleged “opportunist” ways, Mama Joyce didn’t hold back.

Surely, you remember the infamous showdown between her and Carmon while wedding dress shopping with Kandi in 2013. Of course, ‘Old Lady Gang’ members Aunt Bertha and Aunt Nora were in the building, too.

Or when Kandi told Todd that Mama Joyce was on a mission to frame him. Allegedly, she offered to pay someone to capture Todd cheesing it up with another woman. Mama Joyce assumed that would get Kandi to call it quits. Instead, it only caused a further rift.

In a 2014 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Todd accused Mama Joyce of having Kandi “brainwashed.” Additionally, he indicated that her input would eventually drive him away. Thankfully, it didn’t!

During a 2022 appearance at BravoCon, Mama Joyce claimed she and Todd were “getting along much better.” A few months ago, she was also seen having lighthearted laughs with Todd and the family on his YouTube channel.

2014 – They Finally Get Married

Kandi and Todd reportedly jumped the broom on April 4, 2014, at Le Fais do-do in Forest Park, Georgia. On June 1, 2014, Bravo aired a five-part special on their big day, which concluded on July 6.

The Coming to America-themed event saw singer Fantasia, fellow Xscape member Tameka “Tiny” Harris, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s Rasheeda Frost, and then-Housewife Phaedra Parks, among others, as a part of the bridal party.

In a 2024 post honoring their tenth wedding anniversary, Todd wrote on Instagram, “When God put me and [Kandi] together he didn’t make any mistakes. Many people didn’t believe in our union but over time they saw the vision that was bigger than us all.”

He closed, “Some things are just meant to be and that’s Kandi and me! Love you babe. Happy Anniversary!”

Before entering a relationship, Hollywood Divas helmer Todd (Kaela) and Kandi (Riley) had children from previous situations. Kandi’s daughter, Riley’s, father is Russell Spencer, a famous music producer who does by the name “Block.”

In 2016, Kandi gave birth to a baby boy, Ace Wells Tucker. She told PEOPLE, “Todd and I have been waiting so long for his delivery and he is so very perfect.”

Doubling down on the meaning behind his name, she expressed, “Ace represents the number 1 and that of the high quality and our baby Ace is definitely that! His middle name Wells was Todd’s mother’s last name. Using her last name as his middle name was our way of honoring her memory.”
