Kya Renee, better known as Cooking With Kya has been breaking the TikTok algorithm with her cooking videos. These aren’t your average cooking videos as Renee often dances while showing off her dish to viewers. In her videos, you can catch the star’s signature phrase “Cooking with Kya.”

While the star started posting videos in July, her popularity increased substantially in December after uploading a breakfast video. In the video, she says, “One, two, Kya’s coming for you. Wake up and make your man some breakfast before I do.” Afterward, the influencer put whipped cream in her mouth while presenting her food. As she usually does, Kya dances and adds her catchphrase in the video as well.

The social media creator’s way of cooking has inspired others to imitate her style despite the controversy surrounding her. Men have been supporting Kya, finding her videos to be hilarious and entertaining while many women have not been happy with the star’s rise to fame. However, there have been some women coming to Kya’s defense stating that women should provide a sisterhood in the cooking space and not tear each other down.

this whole “cooking with kya” situation just shows me black people still have so far to go 😓 degrading, talking down, talking shit, etc about a black woman who’s gaining traction for COOKING FOOD, like we don’t ever stand by our own, we just tear each other down… pic.twitter.com/5npUFrnCjt

As for Kya’s words on the matter, she has expressed on her TikTok that she is trying to inspire women to learn how to cook and is not interested in her fan’s romantic partners. The influencer has also made it known that she will keep dancing in her videos despite the naysayers.

Whether you love her or hate her, Kya is here to stay, and she seems to be making some good food in the process.

This recent reshare on our Instagram account certainly got a lot of reactions, both positive and negative.  Guess that’s just what comes with being a viral social media star.
