The widow of Malcolm Jamal Warner, Tenisha Warner has launched a legal battle against his family and his estate.  Tenisha is seeking $1.2 million in a lawsuit filed on July 20 in Georgia’s DeKalb County Superior Court against Malcolm’s estate and his mother, Pamela Warner.

Tenisha Warner married Malcolm on May 23, 2022.  The two shared a 9 year-old daughter before he passed away in a drowning accident in Costa Rica in July of last year, at just 54 years old.

Her legal complaint reveals that the couple signed a premarital agreement eight days prior to the marriage. She explains that she had no choice to sue because the financial promises in the prenuptial agreement have not been fulfilled.

Malcolm had not updated his will since 1996, over a decade before marrying his wife.  According to the will, his money would go into the Warner Family Trust leaving everything to his mother, father, and half- sister.

Tenisha Warner Television Interview One Year After Malcolm’s Passing

In an interview that premiered this week, and was recorded ahead of the lawsuit filing, Tenisha Warner discussed how she felt about the first anniversary of her husband’s passing.

She also explained how life has been, being a single mother taking care of the 9 year old daughter, while also trying to focus on taking care of her own mental health and being close to friends and family.

What We Know About The Court Case So Far

Tenisha already has a court request to freeze the Warner Family Trust.  She argues that the will was out dated and did not relay his fill wishes.

According to court documents from Los Angeles County Tenisha is seeking a total of $1,276,042.46 based on the pre-nuptial agreement that Malcolm signed.  She claims that he promised to get a $1 million life insurance policy on himself and on his wife, neither of which he fulfilled.

Pamela Warner has 30 days to respond to the lawsuit allegations. When that happens, a hearing will be scheduled in the court to see if Malcolm’s trust assets will be frozen during the lawsuit.
