If you been paying attention to these Verzuz battles, you might remember that Bobby V and Pleasure P tried to do their own unofficial Verzuz very early on. They later cancelled it after Swizz reached out to them. However, I have been advocating for a Bobby V Verzuz for over a year now, even laying out the case with his 20 hits to make the case for him. While I love every one of the artists on this Ray J and Bobby V vs Sammie and Pleasure P Verzuz battle, I truly think Bobby V has more hits than all of them.
That said, all these artists do deserve their flowers. They have all been in the business over 20 years and have a number of hits.
Ray J, who is of course Brandy’s brother, for the youngins reading this, may be the most unlikely member of this crew, but Ray J has his share of hits. He has 4 solo albums, 1 television soundtrack, a 2019 EP and a joint mixtape/project with Chris Brown! Not too many artists have that resume and a smash hit under their belt with “One Wish”.
Pleasure P has a slew of hits with his Pretty Ricky crew and he has also released several solo albums. “Boyfriend #2” may be his biggest solo hit.
Sammie is nothing to play with himself. He was just a pre-teen when he first emerged on the scene in 1999, but he returned returned with his self-titled album in 2005. He’s been releasing hit singles ever since with multiple EPs, mixtapes, and albums along the way. He just came off his most recent nationwide tour with Eric Bellinger.
And I already told you all about Bobby V. From his 1996 emergence on the scene with the group Mista, for the song, “Blackberry Molasses,” to his features with Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Ludacris and Nicki Minaj among others, Bobby has the most complete discography of all the artists performing tonight (headliners included). I said what I said! And not too many songs can be played after he plays, “Slow Down”.
