For All the Dogs arrived just a day after Drake dropped visuals for the track “8 AM in Charlotte,” which appears on the album. The video features his son Adonis, who opens it by explaining a photo he drew for his dad–the cover art for the new album.

Initially, For All the Dogs was meant to be released last month. One month ago, as Parle Magazine reported, Drake shared a throwback video of his father performing in Canada and announced September 22 as the official release date. However, plans changed leaving fans and followers frustrated. Lil Yachty even made fun of everyone for expecting For All the Dogs even earlier.

On September 13, Drake dropped the cover art for his single “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, which was released on two days later and gave fans hope that For All the Dogs would come out on the 22nd. Yet, disappointment arrived again, as the musician wrote an apology via his IG stories and gave another official release date. This time, he kept his promise.

“Okay my dilemma I am faced with is either cancel shows to finish the album or I complete the mission and drop the album before the last show,” Drake wrote at the time. “I owe you all these memories we are building and anywhere we have missed to date we will be spinning back for sure. For All the Dogs October 6th. It’s only right…”
