The super group Recognition is the true definition of being recognized and remaining humble while doing so.  This R & B duo sensation, consisting of Jerrod “J.  Rod” Rankin and Rico “Sivad” Davis, grew up approximately 44.8 miles away from Jackson, Mississippi.  They began singing at school to impress the ladies and from there it was history.  This duo seemed to possess a notable level of talent and charisma that made them the center of attention.

Recognition has found themselves on a path that may lead them to the same ballpark as the talented greats they say inspired them such as Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and Stevie Wonder.  With the acknowledgement that they are diverse, they describe their music as a healthy mix of soul, pop, hip hop, R&B, and much more.  Within this group, being grateful is definitely a characteristic that is thoroughly shown. “We’ve sacrificed a lot to follow our dreams.  The thing that inspires us to do what we do is the smiles we put on our fans’ faces and respect we get for our music.”  Sivad states.

This duo has performed with many artist and groups such as K-Ci and JoJo, B2K, Bow Wow, Mario, Bobby Valentino, Avant, LeToya Luckett, Usher, Pastor Troy, Brandy, Yung Joc and many more.  They hold many titles that consist of writing, song arrangements, melody compositions, vocal delivery and entertainment.  With seeing these musical sensations in the prime of their solo careers, they understand the value of dedication. THeir grind got them the attention of CEO of R&R Records, Romero Hartfield, who signed this gifted group.  Interested by the buzz that was created, Hartfield was blown away with their performance.  The qualities of charisma and great stage presence astonished Capital Records executives and led them to signing Recognition and their label to a major recording deal.

Their first single “Last Song” was recently the number one added song in the Country at urban radio and continues to rise on the Billboard charts.  They’re looking forward to releasing their debut album Sound Check this fall.  This album consists of rhythm and blues, country and pop-they create what they feel.

With future desires to work and write with producers such as Tank and Shawn Garrett, its a matter of time before everyone will want to be apart of their movement.  They have recently been nominated for three BET Awards.  Their single “Last Song” is available on iTunes and are looking forward to a radio promo tour.
