Ever wonder what people in densely populated areas and non culturally diverse suburbs tuly think about minorities? On its surface the newly released film, The Suspect looks at just that. It goes much deeper though on a journey of suspense for a tangled web since the viewer is kept in the dark about several facts throughout the film. WIth a run time of just 98 minutes the viewer gets a lot in a short time and thefilm doesn’t feel rushed at all, in fact it plays itself out at seemingly just the right pace.
Mekhi Phifer and Sterling K. Brown star as potential bank robbers in the Stuart Connelly directed film. However everything isn’t as it seems as the small town deputy, played by William Sadler, soon finds out. The film does a great job of delivering facts slowly but also providing enough to keep the viewer intrigued. The brillant acting jobs match up with the terrific writing here as well. Even the minor roles help fill the story with honesty and believability.
With all it’s other highlights, still it’s the end game that really makes this a quality film. The last 20 minutes provide enough shock and awe to fill up an entire theater, but you get to own the DVD. This triller was released on April 22nd through Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment brand. The Suspect is definitely worth adding to your collection.
