Big Boi Announces New Solo Album Ready For 2017

It has been quite some time since we last heard from Big Boi and Andre 3000, aka OutKast. Specifically, about 10 years now. Since then, the two have still been working on music or at least have been featured on a number of tracks for other artists. Andre popped up on a number of albums last year and Big Boi has 2 solo projects under his belt, along with that joint EP he did with Phantogram, Big Grams.

Well, his third album is coming and apparently it is finished. Though we do not have a title or a release date as of right now. Big Boi took to Instagram on MLK Day to share the news with his fans. “We start our albums on MLK Day, but this year, we’re finishing a record on MLK Day,” he said in a short video. “Very significant. Can’t wait to let you hear.”

Will Andre 3000 appear on the album? Fans can only hope. However, we do know that Gucci Mane is going to be on the album. Gucci let it slip last year that he was in the recording studio with “OutKast.” That obviously got a number of fans excited. In an interview, Big Boi cleared the air on what really happened.

“Me and Gucci have a record,” he said. “When he said ‘Outkast’ he was just saying that I’m part of the group, so he was excited because the song was jamming like a motherf*cker. I do have Gucci on this album, most definitely.”

At that time, Big Boi said that the project was just 80% complete. He also it is going to reflect our current political climate, to a certain extent. “It’s a time capsule,” he explained. “It’s like a diary, so it won’t be preachy per se, but I drop some things here and there, and people might to look up or read more, but there is an awareness.”

Both Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors were well-received. So there is no doubt that this new one will probably get the same kind of response.
