Jay Rock Teasing New Music, Is An Album Coming Soon?

Jay Rock Teases New Music

TDE had a pretty great 2016 in terms of their artists releases. Kendrick, ScHoolboy, Lance Skiiiwalker, Ab-Soul – but is Jay Rock going to be dropping new music this year? Seems to be the case as Jay Rock teases new music via instagram. The last time we heard from him was in 2015 with his 90059 album.

In August of 2016, TDE President, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, told us that Jay was indeed working on a follow-up and at that time, it was about 80% done on Instagram. We also pretty much heard an entire verse in that short little video. Several months later, it’s easy to assume that it’s either completely done or very close to it, right?

Well, the album may very well be done. Recently, on Instagram, Jay Rock asked his followers, “Who ready for some new Jay Rock let me hear yall!!!”

It’s a bit of a tease and it’s all we have to go on for now. But it’s enough to get us asking questions, and it’s enough to get his fans craving some new music. SZA is gearing up to drop her debut studio album, CTRL, having released her latest single “Drew Barrymore.” So odds are, Jay Rock’s release will be following hers. It’s possible that ScHoolboy Q could also be dropping another project this year as well.

As Jay Rock teases new music it seems he is certainly doing more than better after his motorcycle accident last year, an accident where he broke his leg and cracked his pelvis.

“I was just doing what real dudes do. I was on my bike. Accidents happen,” he explained in an interview last year. “By God’s grace, he protected me the whole way.” He added, “It took me a couple weeks to get back out here ’cause you know, you can’t bring a strong one down.”
