Master P’s King of the South Biopic To Undergo Production This Summer

It’s been a little over a year since we first learned about Master P’s King of The South biopic film, but it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer. According to a press release, provided by PRNewsWire.com, the highly awaited film will begin production this summer and will feature Queen Latifah and Wendell Pierce (The Wire) as two of the film’s starring talents. King of The South focuses on Percy ‘Master P’ Miller and his life story from rags to riches. Learn more about the forthcoming biopic below.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, when you hear the name ‘Master P’ you automatically think of Hip-Hop royalty at its finest. After discovering his own talent as a rap artist, the 46-year-old rapper really pushed the ‘limits’ when he started his very own record company, No Limit Records, in the early nineties. Miller took the music industry by force, becoming one of the most prominent faces of the Southern-based music industry. With everything from hit songs and classic films to million dollar investments and clothing lines, eventually, the No Limit brand became world-renowned.

No Limit Records has birthed some of today’s household names and will forever be a pivotal piece of the entertainment business. Now, we will finally get an exclusive inside look at the man behind the music and how it all began. In the film, viewers will get to see Miller’s humble beginnings in the Calliope Projects of New Orleans and what ignited the mogul he is today.

“The timing is right for me to tell my story. It was tough back then, especially being from the South. New Orleans was the murder capital at the time. I want others to learn from my mistakes and understand my work ethic of never giving up, no matter what it may look like.” Miller explained.

He later told that his main goal is to offer an authentic look and feel to viewers as they watch the film. Most of the project will be filmed right in New Orleans.

At this time, a release date is not known. King of The South will begin open casting on April 4th at 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Gretna, Louisiana.
