Meet Actress Danielle Moné Truitt of BET’s ‘Rebel’

Introducing Danielle Truitt, Star of BET’s New Series, Rebel

Danielle Truitt is a seasoned actress who has been able to constantly reinvent herself.  From the stage to television screens, she manages to absorb her characters and gives stellar performances. Her latest undertaking is the BET drama, Rebel.

 

Rebel boasts an ensemble cast, spearheaded by Danielle Moné Truitt as the lead, Oakland cop Rebecca “Rebel” Knight.  The real life mother of two has always loved the stage. The actor, singer, and dancer hails from Sacramento, California where she majored in Theatre and Dance at Sacramento State University before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television and film. Getting her start in theatre,  some of her stage credits include, Dreamgirls, In The Heights, Neat, Aida, A Raisin In The Sun and Hair, to name a few. Transitioning to television, Truitt has also guest starred  on ABC’s Super Fun Night and FOX’s Mulaney.

Truitt’s talents are impeccable. In addition to the aforementioned roles, she has produced a one woman play, “3 Black Girl Blues”, which was met with acclaim and sold out audiences. She is perhaps most known for the voice of Georgia, in the Disney film, The Princess and the Frog.

 

Truitt was able to cultivate her acting skills while in the theater. This ultimately led to her landing the role of  Rebecca “Rebel” Knight  in the  John Singleton Drama series, Rebel. The series  centers around Truitt’s character, who struggles with life and career after her brother is murdered by police. Like her titular character, Truitt has spoken up against police brutality. She produced an event entitled #MoreThanAHashtag composed of a night of open discussion and performance surrounding the misuse of police force and our role in activism to rekindle awareness towards injustice. According to Truitt, she believe that art has the ability to speak volumes and change our hearts and minds.

Danielle Truitt takes pride in being an activist. As a wife and mother, she is determined to spread love. She advocates for change in our communities, and devotes her time to supporting the people of the community. She started Be. Eternal: The Thriving Artist Series that serves the artistic community by providing emotional and spiritual support. Truitt and her husband hold a monthly event called, My First Fridays, an open Mic event for comedians, poets, singers and rappers. It has become one of the most popular events in Southern California, and artist travel from different locations to secure a chance to perform.

 

Danielle Truitt has been upfront with the fact that Spirituality is what helps center her life. She partners in ministry with her husband at The Livingroom in Van Nuys, California. Their ministry helps to provide meals and encouragement to the San Fernando County homeless population.

Through her steep acting credits, creativity and philanthropy, Danielle Moné Truitt is quickly proving why she is an emerging talent to watch.
