Pharrell Shines With “Yellow Light” from ‘Despicable Me 3’

Pharrell Brings Another Hit To The Despicable Me Franchise with “Yellow Light”

Remember 2013? Where Pharrell hit the jackpot with not only his Daft Punk collab “Get Lucky”, but also the Despicable Me 2 single “Happy”? Well, Pharrell is at it again with the lead single from Despicable Me 3 in the form of “Yellow Light”.

The track is one of the five originals that Pharrell made for the upcoming sequel’s soundtrack and despite being for an animated children’s film, the lyrics touch on some very topical political issues. “Everyone’s overdosing the blue light use / United States of anxiety continues / The redness in this town, we’re singing the flag burning blues“. But with the “yellow light shining down”, everything in the current state of the world can get a little better.

A music video was also released, which sees Pharrell joined by some pixelated Minions to roam the streets before being transported to an 8-bit world where Pharrell has to do battle with Despicable Me 3‘s villain Balthazar Bratt. Check out the video and song below:
