Erykah Badu Will Host The 2017 Soul Train Music Awards For Her Third Consecutive Year

Erykah Badu is a phenomenal singer, songwriter, record producer, disc jockey, activist, actress, and host, who we have oh-so-graciously loved since the beginning of her career. For the last two years, she has hosted The Soul Train Music Awards, on BET, adding her touch of flair and edge to the show to keep everyone entertained in between acts. The vibes she presents aids in setting the mood for the anticipated awards show, and she has done such a great job at presenting the right energy that they’ve decided to bring her back for her third consecutive year! This year also marks the 30th anniversary since The Soul Train Music Awards kicked off in 1987.

The show will take place at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, on November 5th, where it will be filmed at before being aired on BET, November 26th at 8:00 p.m. It is said that legends Toni Braxton and SWV will be in the mix of the first performers we get to witness. It is also being reported that both Braxton and SWV will be receiving special awards. Braxton is being honored with the Don Cornelius Legend Award, and SWV will receive the third annual Lady of Soul Award. Some other performers who we can expect to see are Braxton’s sister, Tamar Braxton, Tank, 112, and Kirk Franklin, among others.

Some of the nominees include Beyoncé, Kehlani, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, and Solange for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, The Weekend, Trey Songz, and Usher for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, and Big Sean, Chance the Rapper, Drake, Future and J. Cole for Best Hip Hop Artist.
