Crenshaw bred emcee, Nipsey Hussle was tragically murdered on Sunday March 31, 2019. The rapper was one of three people shot outside of Marathon Clothing on West Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles at about 3:25 p.m. PST, according to NBC News.
Born, Ermias Ashgedom, Nipsey Hussle was just 33 years old. He was dating actress Lauren London, and the two have a child together, who is just 2 and a half years old. Nipsey has other children from separate relationships as well.
Last year, Nipsey Hussle released his debut album, Victory Lap, after years of releasing mixtapes. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap album.
In recent years Nipsey has spent much of his time talking about about and actually putting things in place to create wealth in the Black community, particularly in his own community in Los Angeles. That’s what makes the Nipsey Hussle murder even more shocking because he was trying to do great things at this point in his life. In addition to owning his clothing store, Nipsey was part of a team of artists and entrepreneurs who developed Destination Crenshaw, an open-air museum devoted to honoring African-American artistic achievement. He also was an investor in Vector 90, a co-working space in South Central Los Angeles, where young people can take classes in science, technology and mathematics.
His last post on social media was eerily foreshadowing, almost as though Nipsey knew something was going to happen.
Having strong enemies is a blessing.
