Jason Mitchell has a lot at stake, and he’s already losing quite a bit of it.
The Straight Outta Compton actor is facing some serious misconduct accusations, which, as a result, is costing him his cash.
An exclusive report from Deadline revealed that the 32-year-old has been dropped from UTA (United Talent Agency), Authentic Talent & Literary Management, his new Netflix film, Desperados, and even Showtime’s The Chi.
Mitchell’s departure from the Lena Waithe-created series, where he starred as character Brandon Johnson, comes not even a month after the drama’s renewal for season three. The announcement was also made amid the show’s second season, which just premiered at the top of April.
While the context of Mitchell’s alleged inappropriate behavior is currently unknown, it is said that Fox 21 Studios/Showtime, Good Universe (overhead for Desperados), and both rep companies have confirmed the New Orleans native’s release from their networks.
The cut came shortly after producers received details about an off-set incident that occurred, forcing them to “immediately and thoroughly investigate” and make the unfortunate move.
If you don’t know, this isn’t the first time that Jason Mitchell has been in the hot seat for unruly actions. In 2016, a woman blasted him for slamming her to the ground at a hotel in Boston. A source also told Deadline that Mitchell had been involved in another situation on the set of The Chi, but it was resolved.
Considering that Jason Mitchell held a starring role on The Chi, we’re not sure how they will write him out of the show next season, but it looks like we’ll just have to stay tuned.
