Over 20 percent of American adults have used CBD before, and that number is growing every day.

What Is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid. In other words, it’s a compound found in the cannabis plant.

Cannabis has hundreds of different types of compounds, such as CBN and THC, but CBD is one of the most popular. But many people still don’t understand what this compound does and how it’s different from the entire cannabis plant itself.

That’s why we’ve created a guide about what you need to know below.

Does CBD Get You High?

In short, no. You won’t get high if you eat CBD edibles or use CBD products.

Why not? Well, CBD doesn’t contain any THC, the compound in cannabis that produces the characteristic “high.”

However, CBD does make you feel more relaxed than usual. But you’ll still be in a normal state of mind. There’s nothing intoxicating about it.

This relaxing effect is one of the many benefits of taking CBD, but the list doesn’t stop there. CBD has a number of benefits that can help treat a variety of health conditions.

Some of these benefits include the following:

  • Pain relief
  • Anti-inflammatory properties
  • Relieves anxiety and depression
  • Reduces epileptic seizures
  • Helps insomnia
  • Fights cancer-related symptoms
  • Reduces acne
  • Treats arthritis
  • Keeps the heart healthy

It’s important to remember that the research on CBD benefits is still minimal. However, CBD does seem to have promising medical effects that can help a lot of conditions.

Does CBD Give You Other Side Effects?

While CBD won’t get you high, it does a few other side effects you should understand.

If you take CBD, you might experience some of the following things:

  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Dry Mouth

The side effects aren’t serious (at least, not in most cases). In fact, the World Health Organization has marked CBD as a safe product. But you should still talk to your doctor about CBD and its side effects before you start using it.

Can You Drive on CBD?

Since CBD doesn’t make you high, it is legal to drive after taking CBD as long as it has less than 0.3 percent THC. Anything higher than this amount makes you unsafe to drive.

But when it comes to CBD and driving, you should stay out of the car if you don’t feel well enough to drive. Dizziness and fatigue can also put you—and others—in harm way if you aren’t careful.

It’s not worth the risk to drive after taking CBD if you don’t feel safe to do so.
