With the coronavirus pandemic affecting everything in the world, it was a disappointment, but no surprise to hear that along with everything else a lot of our favorite TV shows and movies were being canceled. Lovebirds, which is set to star Issa Rae is one of the many, for example, which will no longer be getting a theatrical release.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Issa Rae. She’s an American, actress, writer and producer whose career first began grabbing the attention of many with the production of her youtube web series “awkward black girl”. Her show “Insecure” has engrained her in the hearts of fans around the world.  Earlier this year Issa was part of the case for the film, The Photograph.  Up next, Issa Rae is set to star in her latest movie, Lovebirds which is airing on Netflix later than planned.
Lovebirds was originally set to premiere on March 14 at SXSW, then get released on April 3, in the United States. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic the release date got pushed back as Paramount opted for Netflix to take over Lovebirds release. The movie which is directed by Michael Showalter is set to air on May 22.
The romantic-comedy will walk us through the life of a couple, Leilani and Jibran, who unintentionally ends up getting caught in a murder mystery. This will stir up a lot of trouble for the two as they are forced to work together to solve the mystery while trying to solve their future with each other simultaneously.

Issa Rae will play Leilani, and Kumail Nunjiani, will play Jibran. We can also expect to see Anna Campa, Paul Sparks, and Kyle Bornheimer as well. You can take a look at the trailer below:

What are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to watching?
