Keri Hilson Hints At Dropping New Album: “I’m Proud Of It”

Thirteen years ago was the last time we heard anything musically from Keri Hilson. Her sophomore album, “No Boys Allowed,” spewed out several bangers — and then POOF! — the songstress vanished from the music scene. However, according to Hilson, this year may dawn change considering she’s back in the lab. On Wednesday (Feb 1), the “Knock You Down” singer sat down with Takeo Spikes and Tutan Reyes, and among discussions about rocking stages on the Millennium Tour, her movie endeavors and more, Hilson disclosed that her new studio album may soon hit the eardrums of fans.

Keri Hilson on her new album: “I can say that [the new album] answers questions. I can say that I’m proud of it. And I can say that there were a couple of false starts. They were not all me! There was some like I don’t know fake PR or like fans would craft fake press releases and tweets. But there have been false starts and right before my dad died, that was definitely one that I was responsible for because that’s what I was planning to do and then that happened. But I feel like I’m closer now.”

The “One Night Stand” hit maker said she emphatically feels “this is the year” her new album will drop, even though she did not furnish an exact date of release. Keri Hilson furthered, “Lately, I’ve been wondering if I want to go back in and record some more. I’ve been considering whether or not I want to freshen and liven it up a little bit. Over the past decade and some change, Keri Hilson has featured in a variety of motion pictures, including the celebrated “Think Like a Man” (2012) dramatization with Gabrielle Union, Kevin Hart and Regina Hall. “No Boys Allowed” had appearances from the likes of Kanye West, Nelly, Chris Brown, J. Cole, and Rick Ross; it was executive produced by Polow da Don and Timbaland. The project sold roughly 103,000 copies in its first week and debuted and plateaued at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 — with that in mind, her new album ought of certainly accommodate connoisseurs of her tunes.
