A Planes, Trains & Automobiles remake (1987 comedy by John Hughes) is presently being developed by Paramount Pictures. The exciting part is that the road trip satire will star Hollywood heavy-hitters Kevin Hart and Will Smith.
The film is set to be co-produced by Hartbeat Productions (Kevin Hart’s production company) and Westbrook Studios (Will Smith’s production company). Aeysha Carr (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Midnight Run) has been tapped to pen the script, making her debut in feature film.
Kevin Hart took to his Instagram to discuss the Planes, Trains & Automobiles remake, sharing his exhilaration to work with Will Smith. The standup comedian said he and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor had been “patiently waiting for the right project.”
Hart also disclosed that the film won’t be set in Chicago (like the original). This time around it’ll take place in his and Smith’s hometown, Philadelphia.
A Kevin Hart & Will Smith ‘Planes, Trains & Automobiles’ Remake Is Coming Soon
Hart wrote on his IG: “I’ve been patiently waiting for the right project to team up with my brother with. We found it and are developing it together with our teams. This will be huge for us and the city of brotherly love aka Philadelphia….. let’s goooooo @willsmith 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾”
The “Paper Soldiers” trouper has desired to do a project with Smith for quite some time, and given the pair’s previous contributions to comedy, a Planes, Trains & Automobiles remake might be an ideal fit for their prowess.
Seeing Kevin Hart and Will Smith return to where they grew up may be the most exciting part about the film, for the Planes, Trains & Automobiles reboot is being shot in Philadelphia, PA.
