Social Media Reacts to news of Taye Diggs’s character, Billy departing from “All American” in a dramatic change of events in Season 5, episode 11.
A shocking season 5 storyline twist on the recently aired episode effectively killed off Taye Diggs’ character. In Monday’s show, it was revealed that Jabari, who was stranded on a bus dangling down a cliff, was saved by Billy (Diggs), who lost his life in the process.
The CW series, All American focuses on a promising high school football player who gets selected to play for Beverly Hills High School. From the moment the program debuted in 2018, Diggs has played Billy Baker who works as a football coach at Beverly Hills High School.
Meanwhile, Diggs dropped an appreciation note for his fans on Instagram where he thanked those who have been a part of his journey. He posted
According to scriptwriter Nkechi Okoro Carroll, “It has been an honor to work with Taye over these last five seasons and to watch him bring such incredible life to the role of Billy Baker.”
She added, “Billy was all of us and what a joy it was to watch this character grow as he raised his kids and his football players as one big family. We wish Taye the very best in this next chapter of his life and he remains a beloved member of the All American family”

I know Taye Diggs was leaving the show but they didn’t have to write him off like that I was hoping when it was time for all American to end that we would get see Billy at one or both of the twins weddings and be a grandpa and now we ain’t getting none of that #AllAmerican pic.twitter.com/xyxzccPqBP

I’m pissed off taye diggs wanted to leave because he felt he did the character justice and it was nothing more to give. He wanted to go back on the bus because he said his character would never willingly leave his family so this plot was the best…….huhh#AllAmerican pic.twitter.com/rhxJHsRVMR

#AllAmerican killing off Billy is probably the worst storyline I’ve ever seen.
At this point they just need to wrap up the series, maybe with a time jump or something.
They couldn’t wrap up Taye Diggs’ character without killing him? Seriously?
