Queen Latifah to Produce a Travel Series That Will Follow Female Comedians & Their Famous Friends
Rapper-Turned-Actress Queen Latifah Is Developing a Travel Docu-Series That Will Follow Female Comedians and Their Famous Friends
It’s starting to feel like a girls’ trip all over again. Rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah is reportedly teaming up with production company Electus to develop a travel documentary series that will highlight the global adventures of female comedians and their own ‘Flossy Posse’ crews, who are also famous themselves.
Titled “Friends in Strange Places,” each episode will follow the international voyages and escapades of a pair of women, offering a rousing, true depiction of unity among the modern-day female community at its finest.
“There are so many funny, brilliant women in this industry, and–with plenty of successful male-driven travel series out there–a comedic docu-series about sisterhood and adventure is just the type of uncharted territory we want to plant our flag in,” said Latifah. “I’m so excited to develop a show that not only elevates and highlights female comedians, but it also brings them together for an amazing time that will also be a trip for viewers.”
Queen Latifah is set to executive produce through her film and television enterprise Flavor Unit Entertainment, alongside partner Shakim Compere. Electus’ Chris Grant and Drew Buckley also hold producing credits, with Allison Mandell Hudson and Randi Michel as well.
“This creative provides a hilarious, unique, and personal look at the power of female friendships, and we can’t imagine a more ideal partner, and consummate dynamo, than Queen Latifah and her incredible team at Flavor Unit,” Electus CEO and Co-Founder Chris Grant and Drew Buckley told Variety.
