Beach Day finally arrived on the latest episode of Insecure. The episode found Issa, Molly and Kelli at the beach supporting Nathan, who was throwing an event. In true Insecure fashion, the episode took us all over the place, including Issa and Nathan making their relationship official. Issa Rae, Prentice Penny and Yvonne Orji shared their thoughts and some behind the scenes details about Insecure Episode 4. Here’s a look at what they had to say.

On Spades:

Shout out to people who don’t know how to play Spades. I do, but bless y’all. #InsecureHBO

— Issa Rae (@IssaRae) November 15, 2021

We loved the idea that Issa did not know how to play spades. It’s always one black friend in the bunch. You would be surprised who in the writers room didn’t know how to play. #InsecureHBO

Black folk love shaming folks for not knowing how to play spades. JUST. TEACH. THEM. lol #InsecureHBO

On Kelli

Kelli is quick to befriend anyone who annoys Issa. #InsecureHBO

We. Don’t. Know. But somehow it be making sense (if only to her and Resha!) https://t.co/1Fs8a46Cgq

We as writers were OBSESSED with Jason Derulo Tik Toks and had to find a way to work it into an episode. Ryan Davis sold that shit.

On The Beach Day

We had been wanting to do an earthquake episode for five seasons. So the fact we got to finally do it was everything. It felt super LA. #InsecureHBO

On Nathan

Mental Heath in our community is real. We wanted Nathan’s cousin to not know how to handle it and kinda putting it on the wife #InsecureHBO
