YK Osiris lied about paying funeral expenses for teenager death at ICON Park for clout, a family member alleges.
On March 24, 2022, a 14-year-old teenager named Tyre Sampson was released from his seat while riding the world’s tallest freestanding drop tower, the Orlando Free Fall.
According to Welsh News, “the maximum weight is listed as less than 287 pounds. An attorney for the boy’s family told WESH the boy was well over 300 pounds and, according to the manual, should not have been on that ride.”
Since Sampson’s death, an investigation has been going on and the ride has been shut down. Rapper YK Osiris offered to pay for the funeral expenses and claimed he donated $15,000 to the GoFundMe in Sampson’s name. However, Sampson’s brother said YK Osiris lied about the donation saying that he never paid anything and only claimed he would help the family to get clout.
According to News 4 Jax:
“Osiris Williams posted a screen recording showing his name on a list of people who donated to an online fundraiser started by Sampson’s mother. It showed Williams gave $15,000. But the family of Sampson accused Williams of lying about the donation, The Shade Room reported. TSR uploaded a post purportedly from Sampson’s brother. ‘YK Osiri or whatever dude name is cancelled. Used lil bro for pure clout. Didn’t pay a dime but told the world otherwise… Even posted a fake screenshot of a GoFundMe donation. Stop pretending you about giving back to the community just to get your sales up. Lame as hell,” he continued. Sampson’s mother, Nekia Dodd, appeared to co-sign her son’s tweet and wrote, ‘And he blocked me on IG too!'”
News 4 Jax also stated that YK Osiri responded to the claims saying he’s not like that and that he made the payment out of the kindness of his heart. He also provided GoFundMe information about why payments may be delayed.
Unfortunately, YK Osiri has a history of being indebted to people. He has owed Young Thug, Lil Baby, Boozie Badazz, and Drake. So, hopefully, he honored his financial commitment to Sampson’s funeral, or else this is going to be yet another debt he owes.
