Chris Tucker returning to Friday? The 51-year-old has updated his followers on his plans to rejoin the classic film series.
A prospective Rush Hour 4 was discussed, as well as whether or not the 51-year-old would ever reprise his role in the iconic Friday franchise when the Tucker stopped by Audacy’s V-103 to promote his forthcoming flick Air.
Tucker said that he “loves” working with the Asian trouper but that he has new material on the way, despite Jackie Chan‘s recent announcement that a fourth movie is in the works. Tucker and Chan co-starred in the uber-successful Rush Hour movies from 1998 – 2007.
The panelists made reference to yet another Tucker flashback, the Ice Cube classic Friday from 1994, in which the comedian-actor made his breakthrough as Smokey.
Chris Tucker Returning to ‘Friday’ Series? Here’s What He Said
When queried if he gets weary of being probed about revisiting the Friday crew, Chris Tucker said: “The movie took a life of its own and I love that people still want to see it. I love that they did two more after the one I did. If it’s possible, if it comes together right, I would try to do it. I’m a perfectionist, I’m sorry. If it ain’t gonna be great – I don’t believe in ‘some movies are good, some are not.’ Nah, I’m going all the way; I want it to be great.”
Tucker then acknowledged that comic DC Young Fly might be cast as his son in a Friday prequel while revealing that he has continued to perform stand-up comedy.
Regarding Rush Hour 4, Tucker remarked: “You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level. That’s what I like… I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen… ‘Rush Hour 4’, that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.”
