Creed III star Michael B. Jordan says Jay-Z isn’t the greatest rapper of all time?! The actor has just tossed a bucket of fuel atop the incessant, flaming “Who’s the greatest rapper of all time?” debate.
Naturally, answers vary in regard to the inquiry. However, two living Hip-Hop legends left Jordan on the fence as to who’s the G.O.A.T. — is it Jay-Z or Drake?
Wrapping with Complex on their podcast GOAT Talk, fellow trouper Jonathan Majors and Michael B. Jordan (who both star in Creed III) tossed out their selections in reference to the best rapper of all time. Majors said he felt Tupac Shakur and Jay-Z were top dogs, while Jordan considered Jigga but went with Drake in the end.
“It’s like right there,” said Jordan when confronted with the difficult determination, before giving G.O.A.T. status to the “God’s Plan” rapper. He added, “Fight me!”

The choice, though, was far from a frivolous matter for the 36-year-old director and actor. “Jay-Z? Drake? It’s tough, it’s tough, it’s tough,” said Jordan.
In the end, Jordan being able to “relate to everything that [Drake] raps about in his songs” and the Toronto native’s “consistency across genres” is what won him over. “An artist [who] raps about things that I’ve been through, situations that I can relate to the most, literally … ‘I’ve thought that, I’ve been through that,’ it relates to me consistently. I gotta go there,” said the Newark native.
Michael B. Jordan’s dust kick-up falls in line with the recent brouhaha over Billboard and VIBE’s 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list. No. 1 on the list was Jay-Z, while Drake narrowly squeezed into the top 10, taking the No. 8 slot.
