2025 has been a busy year for Black pop artists—from genre-bending records to experimental visuals and multiple Grammy-level moments. We have had viral songs blowing up TikTok before they even touched digital streaming platforms, and Black creatives have carried mainstream pop harder than anyone wants to admit.

The stars we already know came back with fresh hits, and new names popped up everywhere. And the sweetest part? 2026 is looking even louder. New albums are heating up, global deals are rolling in, and international stages are opening their doors. This is the year Black pop artists fully take over the spotlight and narrative.

So if you want to stay ahead of your fellow music lovers, refresh your playlists, and catch the next breakout early—these are the Black pop artists to watch in 2026.

5 Black Pop Artists to Look Out for in 2026

Tyla

Tyla is our undisputed No. 1—yes, absolutely! She didn’t just maintain momentum; she leveled up her entire lane. After Water went global and bagged her a Grammy, 2025 showed she’s here for longevity, not luck.

This year, tracks like Body Go and Channel pushed her signature blend of Afro-pop and Amapiano further. She is dominating TikTok, charting on every streaming platform, and proving she’s shaping a new era of stadium-ready Black pop.

Amazingly, through all the evolution, she never loses her South African heartbeat, and that’s what makes us think she is unstoppable.

Doechii

Doechii isn’t “new” anymore; she’s certified. She’s already stamped her name in history when it comes to Black women in pop. First, she bagged that Grammy earlier this year. Then she spun the block with Anxiety sample banger that reminded everyone why she’s one of the most exciting weird-pop storytellers of our generation.

But let’s be real: a Grammy and other achievements don’t mean break time. We certainly aren’t going to ignore the possibility of a Doechii banger next year.  If anything, her success just put pressure on her to go harder Doechii does NOT fold under pressure.

We can feel it already; 2026 is her year. She’s about to blow our minds all over again, and this time the world is fully watching.

Lay Bankz

Layia Watkins, known professionally as Lay Bankz, has cracked the code of that playful, high-bounce pop sound that refuses to leave your head once you hear it. She glides between pop, rap, and dance beats effortlessly, packing energy, attitude, and hooks that feel made for the algorithm.

Right now, she’s sitting on two major TikTok winners: Na Na Na and Left Cheek. Both exploded across the app, and the interesting part? She hasn’t even hit her mainstream ceiling yet.

Lay Bankz is one viral moment away from full-blown pop domination. 2026 might be the year she finally kicks that door open.

Amaarae

Amaarae has already tasted virality more than once, from the global takeover of sad gurls luv money to the cult favorite Angels in Tibet. But even with all that, she moves like someone who knows her ceiling isn’t anywhere near the top yet. There’s still more ground to break, more boundaries to stretch, and more genres to melt together.

She’s one of the few Black artists aggressively pushing hyperpop, futuristic pop, and experimental sound design straight into the mainstream. Tiny vocals, glitchy production, alien-girl aesthetics—she makes music that feels like it’s beamed from the future and somehow still goes viral on a random Friday.

Now, she’s entering her next chapter with her new album Black Star—a 13-track universe that blends metallic pop, pitched-up vocals, spiritual references, and sleek electronic energy. It’s the kind of project that tells you she’s not here to play safe; she’s here to shape what pop will sound like for the rest of the decade.

2026 might finally be the year the world catches up to the world she’s been building.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat might be an OG at this point, but trust us, she’s one you still need to keep an eye on. Every year, there’s always that one established artist who comes back and shakes the entire world with a massive hit. And right now, Doja is looking very ripe for that moment again.

From her chaotic, playful livestreams to the snippets she teases, you can feel that creative spark heating up. She’s giving “I’m about to run the charts again” energy. Her current album VIE is already out, packed with those mischievous, catchy, cute-but-dangerous tracks only Doja can pull off. Definitely enough to snack on while we wait.
