Nia Long and Ime Udoka have called it quits after dating for nearly 13 years. The Nia Long and Ime Udoka break up comes after Ime Udoka’s shocking cheating scandal involving a fellow Boston Celtic’s staff member who happened to be Udoka’s subordinate.
This announcement was made by a rep of Nia Long who spoke to People Magazine and said they are “no longer together but remain fully committed to co-parenting their son [Kez].”
Nia Long and Ime Udoka’s break up has been expected due to the whirlwind scandal following Udoka’s consensual affair. Revelation of the affair generated a lot of rumors and social media buzz, most of which included love and support for Long.
Ime Udoka broke team guidelines by having a consensual affair with a Boston Celtic’s staff member and received a one year suspension shortly after despite the NBA 2022-20223 season just beginning. According to team rules, their relationship was inappropriate and unacceptable especially because he is the Celtic’s coach.
Nia Long recently called out the Boston Celtic’s for handling Ime Udoka’s disciplinary action in a public manner by holding a press conference. Long believed that the steps that the team took were traumatic for her younger son. She said “I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public,” she said. “It was devastating, and it still is. He still has moments where it’s not easy for him.”
Apparently, the Celtics had also not been supportive to Long behind the scenes as well. Nia spoke to the Hollywood Reporter this past Thursday about how they hadn’t reached out when she said “If you’re in the business of protecting women — I’m sorry, no one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK. It’s very disappointing,” she said.
When Did Nia Long and Ime Udoka Meet?
Nia Long and Ime Udoka met when Udoka was still a basketballer for the Sacramento Kings in February 2010. The couple had their first child together in 2011 and went on to get engaged in 2015. Although they got engaged, Nia has always expressed her lack of consideration for marriage. She once said she had”never seen a marriage work”. According to the NCIS Los Angeles star, marriage didn’t define a successful relationship for her and Udoka. They share one son together named Kez (11), in addition to Nia’s 22 year old son, Massai.
