Here’s another Verzuz we didn’t know we were getting, but we absolutely needed. R&B royalty! New Jack Swing era legends! Bobby Brown vs Keith Sweat! So much music to look forward to between these two.
The Bobby Brown vs. Keith Sweat Verzuz is presented by Essence Mag as part of their Essence Festival of Culture presentation. For fans, even though this was only announced less than 4 days before the battle, it is one of the most anticipated Verzuz battles yet.
Bobby Brown is not only a member of a legendary R&B group, New Edition, he also has had quite a successful solo career with a couple classic albums under his belt.
Keith Sweat has been a successful solo artist for so long that he has fans in different generations. Still, somehow the Harlem native looks almost exactly how he looked when he first emerged on the scene.

Winner: Bobby Brown
Bobby Brown – “Don’t Be Cruel”
Round 2: Keith Sweat – “Make You Sweat” vs. New Edition – “Mr. Telephone Man”
Listen, if Bobby gonna dig into that New Edition bag this early, it might be a long night for Keith.
Winner: Bobby Brown
New Edition – “Mr. Telephone Man”
Round 3: Keith Sweat – “How Deep Is Your Love” vs. New Edition – “Jealous Girl”
Keith gotta get some of these early rounds…

Round 4: Keith Sweat – “I’ll Give All My Love To You” vs. New Edition – “Girlfriend”
Winner: Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat – “I’ll Give All My Love To You”
Round 5: Keith Sweat featuring Left Eye – “How Do You Like It?” vs. Bobby Brown – “Girl Next Door”
This could have gone either way…
Winner: Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat featuring Left Eye – “How Do You Like It?”
Round 6: Keith Sweat – “Right And Wrong Way” vs. New Edition – “Hit Me Off”
Winner: Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat – “Right And Wrong Way”
Round 7: Keith Sweat – “(There You Go) Tellin’ Me No Again” vs. New Edition – “You Don’t Have To Worry”
I love these New Edition tracks, but these aren’t the classics. Just songs Bobby had good runs on.
Winner: Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat – “(There You Go) Tellin’ Me No Again”
Round 8: Keith Sweat featuring Snoop Dogg – “Come And Get With Me” vs. Ja Rule featuring Bobby Brown – “Thug Lovin'”
I love that Ja Rule record! Only reason I’m giving Sweat the win is because Bobby is only on the hook for that track. I can’t give Bobby the win for just a chorus.
Winner: Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat featuring Snoop Dogg – “Come And Get With Me”
Round 9: Keith Sweat featuring Kut Klose – “If You Really Want It” vs. Bobby Brown – “One More Night”
I didn’t think Keith was gonna run up the first half like this, but he is…
Winner: Keith Sweat
Keith Sweat featuring Kut Klose – “If You Really Want It”
Round 10: Keith Sweat – “Merry Go Round”
They skipped Bobby Brown’s 10th round. Won’t count this in the final count.
