For young fans:  This is what New York City Hip-Hop sounds like.  This Verzuz puts The Lox vs Dipset in a battle between two of Hip-Hop’s biggest groups of all time. Both crews hail from New York City, and have represented for over 20 years in the music business.

The Lox, comprised of Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch, are from Yonkers and came into the music business under the wings of The Notorious B.I.G. under Bad Boy Records.  They then moved over to the Ruff Ryders came with fellow Yonkers native DMX.  They continue to be one of the only crews in Hip-Hop that can tour as part of two very distinct different labels/brands.

The Lox have released four albums, including the first two albums, their most popular projects, Money, Power & Respect and We Are The Streets.  The fact that Jadakiss was able to have his own solo Verzuz was very telling. All three members have released several solo projects and have hit songs under their belts as individuals as well.

Dipset, aka The Diplomats, includes the members Cam’ron, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana.  Their path to the music business was slightly different, with Cam’ron getting signed to Untertainment/Sony Music back in the mid 90s.  He slowly brought his Harlem team into the music business with him and solo and collectively they found success over the next decade.  At one point the crew was signed to Roc-a-fella Records, working with Jay-z and Kanye West on production, but for the most part they have done it on their own.  There have been several other artists associated with The Diplomats over the years, but the trio has remained the same.

The Diplomats have released 3 albums as a group.  One could make a strong argument that Jim Jones and Juelz Santana have also had better solo careers than Styles P and Sheek Louch respectively.
