Sitting in Bars with Cake, Prime Video’s brand new film, was such a heartfelt movie that brought laughs to viewers, and also tears. Here’s my full review of Sitting in Bars with Cake.
The movie is a story based on true events about a young woman in her 20s who is trying to figure out life and all that it has to offer. Jane (Yara Shahidi) is the most reserved young woman who is hoping to pass the LSAT in order to become the lawyer that her parents expect her to be.
Growing up in such a perfect environment, Jane was deemed as the one that has always played by the rules while her best friend Corinne was the total opposite. After her best friend Corinne, convinced her to bake cakes in bars in order for her to meet guys it became a wonderful trend for them until Corinne was caught with an unfortunate circumstance.
The film, really highlighted the true friendship between two friends who were more like sisters than anything else. While Corinne discovered her sickness she still had hope that Jane could rediscover herself and do the things that she truly desired.
Between the highs and lows of Corinne’s health, Jane becoming her own person and taking in the joy that Corinne has always wanted her to have is becomes a beautiful sight to see as the film goes on. With Corinne’s nonchalant parents, to the experiences that they endured as they went to different bars while allowing Jane to receive her praise for her wonderous cakes, it is a film that will leave you hugging your loved ones at the end.
It was wonderful to watch and if you haven’t tuned in already, you don’t want to miss out on the rollercoaster that this film will take you on. Grab your tissues and your loved one to embark on a journey that will leave you inspired, happy & empowered.
